Mission
The Sueños del
Barrio youth group, provides Latino youth in East Harlem
with the support they need to educate themselves, make empowered and
informed decisions, shape the policies that affect their lives, and
build strong communities.
The Youth Project is youth-based and youth-led, which allows participants to be involved in decision-making
and develop their leadership and professional skills. In the long term, the Project aims to assist Latino
youth in becoming empowered and self-determined adults who can take their future in their own hands and be
active in shaping strong communities.
Esperanza’s youth constituency is composed of first and second generation Latino immigrants aged 14 to 21
who reside in East Harlem.
